Local Dining

There are hundreds of great places to eat in the area. Below are just some of the favorites recommended by our faculty and students.

• Graduate Center Dining Commons: 8th floor of the Graduate Center building; open from 11 am to 3 pm.

• Graduate Center Express Cafeteria: located on the 1st floor of the Graduate Center building; open from 8 am to 7 pm.

• Heartland Brewery:  Located on the first floor of the Empire State Building, diagonally across from the Graduate Center.  Famous for its selection of beer.

• IchiUmi: Japanese all you can eat buffet; located on 32nd Street, between 5th Avenue and Madison Avenue. A favorite among Graduate Center locals.

• Mandoo Bar: Korean soups and dumplings. Located on 32nd Street, between 5th and 6th Avenue.

• The Archive Bar: Located on 36th street, between 5th and Madison. A great place for live music and fancy drinks.

• Cafe China: Located on 37th street, between 5th and Madison. Excellent Chinese Cuisine.

• The Ginger Man: 11 36th street, between 5th and Madison. One serious collection of wines and beers.
